Congratulations are in order.
Congrats Ms. Brown on winning the MVP of the women’s division. Well earned.
And best of luck to you on your farewell chapter, swan song, grand closing finale across from 40 B.A.R.R.S. and may you both deliver a lasting memory in the ring.
Leaving with us a career that resembles so much left to give and so much left in the lyrical tank though our viewership will be left to cherish what was given and celebrate an artist prerogative to leave on your own terms. Much respect. And going out on top might I add. Salud! to you and all of your future endeavors. 👑
As the BRC hails the now reigning WOTY the emerging controversy around the process of its deductive reasoning or ‘top down reasoning’ when compiling a formal ranking process may soon turn attention to the Jay Blac resembling elephant in the room still left to be addressed; for Ms. Brown’s contemporary peers to consider as well as Jay Blac’s media peer group the like. What’s next?
CREATE A COMMISSION BLAC KELLERMAN. COTY/WOTY DESERVES IT.
To further extend this point, Mr. Rajon spoke to a specific reference I think warrants a deeper delve into when the question of merit meets rhyme or reason as Champion’s awards system becomes more and more of the lead actor designated to extract the best box office results for the award prestige now ingrained into the competitive zeal of the sport. To expound Mr. Rajon referenced NBA MVP voting. Which on the surface would be a solid parallel of context I do agree. But upon further examination take a look here, what do you see? Click link below:
That’s 100 votes + 1 cumulative fan vote folks. Proper variance in volume yet the surety of an end result with a large enough sample size to meet an acceptable criteria towards the merit component of the deciding factors. So the question behooves- is it that 7 people in a debate style war room is what belies the process of determination for this sports award delegation due to insufficient sample size? Or is it that the community at large has not taken to the idea of systemic balance for the greater good? My 2cents: it is both. And could be problematic to a degree.
Case in point, it is factually acknowledged that some former NBA players turned accredited media members now vote on a ballot for the awards we’ve all come to know and grow fond. Awards such as Most Valuable Player, Rookie of The Year, Defensive Player Of The Year, and All-NBA 1st 2nd & 3rd teams. However they are not the only balloted voters as their media cohorts constitute a diverse & fair representation of journalists, TV personalities, communications staff, etc. Not to mention the company representation of the whole tasked with doing the voting consists of a wide global range of voter interest. That helps. And for anyone who keeps up with the NBA culture many of the voters listed on the ballot are easily recognizable. And many are not. And that is the point. Ebony Hustle perhaps may be less inclined to single out the acumen of the few when the subjectivity of the whole implores a large enough sample size to meet a conceivably fair and concise majority consensus. As we recently recall, much ado was made over the lack of consideration to the entire pool of statistically eligible artists in regards to the male division COTY. Would that remain the case if there were a wider voting representation that expanded across the board of the sports coverage? Geechi Gotti & Coffee Brown are your respective COTY/WOTY for the 2021 SZN. Perhaps that fact would be received better from a pool of 100/ +fan vote rather than a condensed few. And for COTY, Champion would instead assemble 7 deep and reveal the final tally of the voting panel and then argue for hours (very entertaining btw) the results in and of itself as opposed to presenting as the authority on the matter with so many pivotal point-of-views theoretically left out of the initial process altogether. Check it- Jalen Rose is a former NBA player now media personality with an MVP vote. That perspective is key and resourceful to the integrity of the award system. And so is Kevin O’Connor. And Chris Haynes. Neither of which played a minute of basketball at the NBA level though play an integral part in how the sport is covered. Translate to the sport of Battle Rap and consider the same. Swave Sevah should have a vote. Just as Drect Williams should. And Piperboy Williams. Derez URL. JB. London Jenn. KG the Poet, Caps, Joe Budden, on & on etc… It could all be so simple. Fortunately for us all Jay Blac and Champion do a great job so no need to fret as the critiques sharpen steel. The BRC opting for inclusive solution based operatives should probably be the goal in mind. Tsu Surf putting on his NBPA Pres. CJ McCollum hat has certainly helped. For my 2cents incentivizing the whole would go a long way for C/WOTY here on. For the sports sake as it ever evolves, it may be time for Jay Blac to become a tad more industrious as the media gold standard and open the interpretation of the awards. Besides, who doesn’t want to win a MVP? Making it matter to the ALL>
That’s my time.
Once again salute to Ms. Coffee Brown on winning 2021 WOTY. 🏆
BRC,
Appreciate the read as always Luv1.

P.ess- Kyrie dropping 50 on 19 shots is the perfect analogy for the metric Surf makes reference to concerning impact.
