The Card=
Lu Castro vs. Rum Nitty-
Lu Castro wants to be great at this. I am reminded of this fond passion Lu has for this sport playing back the Fonz tape. Rough nite for Lu. And perhaps most plainly aware and promising is that you know he knows the decision is already decided and he takes the lesson just as rough as the trials. That can be better described as the makings of a Giant. When you care and are emboldened to the output through highs & lows alike, the artist waiting on the other side of falling short can be heavily triumphant in transformation to have suffered defeat along the way. Lu appeared as the young athlete falling just short of the hump. The disgust of the outcome ensures at the very least a vigorous hunger to return and redeem. This redemptive quality of ambition Lu possesses can be read in both his mannerism/body language as well as his willingness to stretch the craft creatively and seek new boundaries of performance blended with wordiness that attempts bold heights. Lu Castro writes past the margins of the paper all the way to the edge of limitations, this bravery i liken to the hit-or-miss quality of nuanced comedians who are willing to miss in order to land moments that embed memories. This headlining quality will bode well for Lu in what should be the first of many top of the bill story plots in the New Era LuRL Universe. First treatment- Nov. 20th in Oakland, California Lu’s in traffic. His opponent- the Rum Nitty. Top of the marquee. Boom. Plot thickens. I spoke in my last piece about Nitty’s matchups going forward alluding to how it may be progressively optimal for Nitty to begin diversifying style clashes and finding new ways to be challenged as the hunted. Well, here it is. And here’s where the task meets the ode- being the overwhelming favorite from the consensus is not enough. And neither would be winning favorably through a consistent modicum of tactical approach. Question- What do aliens do besides leave Earth? What would Lu do if he ever saw one for the first time? How could you possibly know what to expect? Unrealistically, none of us would know what to do if ever to encounter an alien with an otherwordly pen. But it’d be some cool shxt to find out Cuz Webb could win a bout more than one way. Ideally, this matchup stirs the right pot for both camps to entertain the bounds of un-chartered territory to close what promises to be a storied bill with moments of off-script helter-skelter that wow the BRC for reasons that perhaps extend beyond the tale of tape on-paper. Should be fun.
Keys: Lu Castro lands the lyrical lead hook with high %
Rum Nitty style points his punches thrown in succession
Jey the Nitewing v. Loso-
Jey the Nitewing frequently displays a blend of uncanny stoic with sudden lyrical hostility that offers a certain sense of pleasant perplexity offset by both humorous build-up and competitive angst. Not unlike what one would probably consider a Mad King to be in characterization perhaps. Mr. Nitewing presents a smorgasbord of stylistics i think even the most prepared of his contemporary peers would study long study wrong if not careful. From quotables to humorous moments to rapid spin cycles of lyrical ambidextrous, Jey the Nitewing will make the same coast trip to Oakland, California on a journey towards outward faith. And all roads lead to Loso. The crown jewel of religious covenant covered in the blood of rapping damn good and on most nights the angle hooked punches are more than enough to win a contest. Not to mention the counter ability to utilize the ropes to his advantage as his style of fight can quickly become a tiring exhibition for the opposition; win lose or draw. (i mean did you see the exerted effort Brizz Rawsteen poured into his performance v. Loso?) The obvious baiting Los encourages his opponents to take as tailored strategy of approach to attack him from also represents the exact reason not to. Talking to Loso about his obvious spiritual subscriptions and faith-based lyrical orientation is exactly the trick-bag you think it is. If you aren’t going full Brizz Rawsteen why bother? Well i’m sure if anyone can re-imagine a facetious reference point or three to land with a true body of work it’s the Federal Way Washington products rhyme assortment.
Keys: Jey the Nitewing out in left field swinging= paradox?
Loso counter punching with flurries of immediate bar impact
Danny Myers v. Ace Amin
Ace Amin v. Danny Myers- Will Ace Amin shoulder bump the silhouette of one Danny Myers into a parallel Universe before Danny leaves Earth in an unbeatable round of lyrical GodPen? Stay tuned for the next episode of unmitigated gall (JayBlac). Whether he does or not Ace more than possesses the compare and contrast storytelling chops to win a contested back and forth bout with Danny Myers. Coming off of a questionable to say the least decision resulting in a loss v. Cortez, Ace Amin has an opportunity in Oakland to do what he seems to do best. Corner and lyrically attack a vet with dark and dismantling intentions. But as we know it won't be without a fight. Into the ring enters a well rested, motivated, and presumably testy Danny Myers looking to overkill this bout; with the stained memory of his last URL stage 1 v. 1 firmly sketched into the minds of us all. With both camps having shared the ring prior in a 2 v. 2 setting a sense of familiarity and gamesmanship should be expected from both sides both pre-fight weigh-ins if applicable as well as during the bout. The lazy assumption would be to determine a lopsided outcome without explanation (the term 3-0 a prime example) under the justification logic that BarGod rhymes too well to lose. I would turn your attention to the track record of fully-engaged Ace Amin and his ability to speak volumes from a prospective that adds bar aesthetics to his point-of-view that serve as almost immediate resonance with many whom both consciously and subconsciously support the speech of urban plight found straight & narrow. Not to mention you’ve seen this movie before. (see Eazy the Block Captain v. Danny)
Keys: Danny Myers schemes topical layers that point well to score superior cross punches and lyrical jabs with minimal set-up grey area(s).
Ace Amin stays in the pocket lyrically and tailors a body of work that begins and ends with viewership accessibility to his passionate roar via moments.
Emerson Kennedy vs. Chilla Jones
Wait & see approach I must take for this one. Respect and best regards to both artist as they prepare for warring. Chilla Jones with a quick u-turn back to the ring sees a matchup with several interesting subplots for my 2cents. One being, with Mr. Kennedy’s double-down on expressing his versatile array of skills and talents within both the analysis media spectrum as well as Hollywood production arena, what does Chilla scheme into existence for Emerson a complete mosaic that leaves Emerson revealed more than his own vulnerability and overall comfort level hasn’t already seen tested? And how much does the general perception apply tactically when the range is wide toward an opponent who can maintain their own likability as a subconscious imagery productive to the culture for other variables that exceed just the sport? A challenge Chilla Jones can tackle. Contrarily Emerson Kennedy’s approach will also be just as fascinating.
Kid Chaos v. Holmzie da God
Without too much word salad I think we can all comfortably conclude the lyrical fest of entendre layers from Kid coupled with Holmzie’s aggressive conversational piece will provide both skill & substance in this matchup. A ‘let your hands go’ type of back & forth i fully expect to serve as a preferential specific bout that hopefully doesn’t become overshadowed by others on the card and thus the inevitable bar aesthetics and dope rhymes lost in the algorithm of true to the essence battles that some don’t find controversial enough. Holmzie is back on the stage that once crowned him MVP. Have to imagine that alone invigorates a rested Holmzie to show and prove to an even broader audience now than even once before not all that long ago. Holmzie & Kid both make writers delight. Whichever can make the delighted believers on this day will prevail. Kid Chaos is presently navigating many of the concerns I previously addressed above and yet is still managing to leave venues with moments that carry themselves very well. Kudos to him for advancing the archetype of his mold forward. He’ll need to capture that snapshot once again this Saturday nite as he did Round 1 v. Chess, moments v. Jey the Nitewing, Round 2 v. Chilla Jones, —— v. Holmzie Da God?
Keys: Kid Chaos- finds a style of fight to stick to. Staple deliveries/combos.
Holmzie- keep the lyrical fight in the middle of the ring; edge out rounds.
Fonz v. Tink the Demon
First things first- Fonz sir…
A man possessed or a manhunt?
Which is it cause Fonz can be found in the middle of the street lately.
It would seem the rent is due for the BRC and for the Landlords contemporary peers. A standing issuing of all lyrical fades is currently on-going. All head ups. With Fonz carrying the disposition of- "go with yo move". Well if all Fonz does is punch and to block it is your best chance, then a heavyweight style clash seems in order. Tink the Demon presents more than just a physical stature mirror match. In fact Tink the Demon presents to Fonz a rather uniquely suited counter punch style that creates the type of fight Fonz can both win and yet learn from it the strength of his own defensive prowess at the same time. Tink may lean on Fonz in this bout. Correlation: a scheme art of drawn out subject matter made to lull the opposition to a false comfort with set-ups before a sharp right hook connects. And the heavy handed unorthodox pen of Tink the Demon can measure up to this tactical approach no question. But in the end though, will it matter if Fonz is dropping opponents Tay Wilder style before the 3rd round even arrives? We'll see. But with both Tink and Real Name Brandon on schedule for Fonz to close out November, the BRC may be giving Fonz his proper thanks both in short order as well as when this calendar year is all said and done. COTY darkhorse?Keys: Tink the Demon- punch. punch conserve. Rinse & Repeat.
Fonz- One round equivalent to a Bronze Bomber and…and still.
Jakkboy Maine v. Th3 Saga
Jakk back. The King of Banned returns to the ring. While whether or not the setting likens to the more condensed and intimate stages Jakkboy Maine created the ripples and waves that earned him his original buzz remains to be seen, get both of your shoulders tapped in what assures to be the duality of as above so below explained. Demons saints ghouls angelic forces. A wheelhouse matchup for both artists makes this contest a must-see. A true see-saw effect that could see either side catapult into the land of obscurity, therefore the gloves are off for this bout and could quite simply produce the most culture edifying dialogue on the bill once the game tapes emerge. Though enjoying the card in its entirety is always ideal, this matchup is one to circle as the most directly oppositional tit for tat with the most to fundamentally gain through interpretation. Both sides of the spectrum are entrenched and with rhyme or reason as to why. Which side wavers first and what rationale ultimately prevails? These questions and more will be answered. Between that and everything else in-between this bout should make for a style clash made in heaven. Or the basement. Either or a show it will be. As for Th3 Saga, a return from URL hiatus to be thrown into a hellfire of Jakk wrath seems to be just the aggressive tone-setter Saga needs to provoke his best fight.
Keys: Saga must stay off of his back foot and lead with aggressive cross punches.
Jakk is already a one of one crafter of performance cadence, clean tape prevails.
